The Sun Bear

THE SUN BEAR
The Sun Bear lives in the tropical forests of the Southeast Asia.
It is the smallest of bears, standing nearly 70 cm at the shoulder and weighs 25-65 kgs.
This bear can live up to 25 years in the wild and its size is relative to a 6 ft man.
Also known as the "Malayan Sun Bear", they take their name from the 'bib-shaped' golden or white patch on the chest (which legend says represents the rising sun).
This bear is nocturnal. They lumber through the forest at night, snacking on fruits, berries, roots, small birds, lizards and rodents. They have excellent smell. Their extremely long claws can exceed 4 inches in length, which are used to rip open trees and termite nests. They have a long tongue for extracting honey from bees nests, giving them the nickname "The Honey Bear."
