Baiji

The Baiji is a 'possibly' extinct species of freshwater dolphin, and is thought to be the first dolphin species driven to extinction due to the impact of humans.
Since Baiji means "White Fin" in Chinese, it means "White-Finned Dolphin."
Gestation would last 10-11 months, delivering one calf at a time. The interbirth interval was 2 years.
Males reached sexual maturity at age 4 /  the female at age 6.
Mature males were about 7ft 7in long / the females 8ft 2in long.
In the wild, the lifespan was 24 years.
Because of its poor vision, the Baiji relied primarily on sonar for navigation. This sonar system plays an important role in socializing and group coordination, expressing emotions.

The Spinner Dolphin

This dolphin is famous for its acrobatic displays in which it spins along its longitudinal axis as it leaps through the air.

Spinner Dolphins love to jump, flip and twist above the surface of the water. This is possibly to communicate.
At night, this dolphin travels to deeper water to eat. On average, an adult dolphin will eat 4-9% of its body weight in fish, squid and shrimps.
Spinner Dolphins can live for 20 years.
These dolphins live in an open and loose social organization.
Mother and calves form strong social bonds.
Vocalizations of Spinner Dolphins include whistles, burst-pulse signals and Echolocation clicks.
This dolphin has a 10-month gestation period and the mother will nurse her young for one to two years.

The Common Bottlenose Dolphin

The Common Bottlenose dolphin is also known as the "Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphin."
